Selling up in the Uk, and move to Bulgaria Permanently
I am currently based in the Uk, but every day think about moving to Bulgaria permanently. It's not that I have a pessimistic attitude to the uk, but that I love the clear air, wildlife and interesting people of Bulgaria.
37 Years is a long time to be in one country, and I would love to move, but admit that it is a daunting prospect.
Firstly, my command of the Bulgarian language is fairly limited, only knowing enough to be able to eat, drink and travel around.
Secondly, I would need to find some kind of employment. I fancy being a tour rep of some kind, and also running an accomodation business, such as a hostel or guesthouse. I do have plans for this, which is a long term aim.
Thirdly, a roof over my head would be useful I guess. My choice of location in bulgaria would be a difficult one.
My Bulgarian company is registered in Veliko Tarnovo, in the North Central Balkans, so that would be an obvious choice. Another possibility would be the Rhoddope Mountains of southern bulgaria (also extends into greece). I love the rhodopi mountains between Plovdiv and Smolyan, and have always been drawn to it ever since I first saw a picture of it online in 2004.
I did try to buy a house in the Village of Podvis near Smolyan in January 2005, but there was a problem with the paperwork, and the sale did not go through.
Since selling my apartment in Vt (Veliko Tarnovo) in December 2006 I have been looking for my next bulgarian property purchase, but have not yet found the right one.
I will keep looking.
