Finding Happiness in Life
It's Thursday morning in October and I am sitting in my lovely warm back bedroom in Lincoln, Uk typing this blog entry.
Outside the skies are a lovely autumn colour, like a favourite white sock.
This morning I have been processing orders from my website wowclothes.co.uk which is an excellent fancy dress website.
Later I will go to the wholesalers, only twenty miles away, and collect even more great stock. I will also dispatch our many customers orders to the Uk and abroad.
Many of you will be in a similar position to myself, in your offices and factories, schools and homes. I think that we are so lucky in the Uk.
The news reports of the credit crunch, and other less than positive events try to make us feel bad, but conciously choose to look for the positive in life, and things will be alright.
Whilst times are undoubtedly tough, others have it tougher, for instance two thirds of the world apparently lives on less than two Dollars each day, though we (as a world) will change this.
I personally believe that the way people think, not only affects their own outlook and actions, but also others. An example is the current economic situation in which many people are believing that things are bad, and going to get worse in the economy. This is being stirred up by the media, who thrive on bad news (if you don't believe me then check how many 'good news' versus 'bad news' stories are on the tv news tonight).
The more they believe things are getting worse, the less they spend, the less they spend affects others because they lose their jobs due to people not wanting their products or services. Less jobs = more unemployment payments = higher taxes for those in work = even less spent in the economy by consumers. A vicious spiral of decline gathers momentum.
The media should in my opinion promote the positive things that are going on in our economy and society, for example some industries are still expanding (and I don't just mean baliffs and debt collectors). We also have clean water in our taps, relatively moderate weather conditions compared to some other parts of the world, free schools with books in them etc etc. Why else do you think that Britain attracts peoples from all over the world. Simple, because things are good here, compared to most places.
