Six days until I am back in Bulgaria

After what seems like forever, I am going back to bulgaria next tuesday. I am planning to briefly go to Veliko Tarnovo before heading for the Rodopi Mountains to get in some long missed hiking. Hopefully I will get some good photos to add to the site.

Back in Bulgaria November

Couldn't stay away for long so am returning to Bulgaria on 15th November. Arrive Sofia and plan to get the overnight coach to Veliko Tarnovo...Hurrah!

Property

Bulgarian property was all the rage a few years ago. The boom years were from 2004 until the financial crisis of 2008. Following bulgarias joining of the EU in January 2007 property enjoyed a good year of continued property price growth. After a couple of difficult years the situation seems to be improving again. Certainly I have noticed more internet advertisments appearing for bulgarian property. As they say property depends on Location,Location,Location. Bulgaria is a compact but wide ranging country in terms of landscape and property. Tradionally people have flocked to the Black sea coast and the Ski resorts for their investment property. Of those looking for more permanenet residence such as retiring uk expats, areas such as the Medieval Capital and surrounding area of Veliko Tarnovo in central northern Bulgaria are popular. Indeed I bought there in 2005. Many people were attracted to bulgaria in the early days by the low property prices which seemed to good to be true. Whilst there were some great bargains to be had in the early days of the boom (and possibly a few still remaining) having visited many such properties in person I can tell you that the camera does in fact lie, or at least show these properties in a good light. Many have not been lived in for many years due to their owners having moved away to the cities or abroad. Consequently they will often require considerable structural work to bring back to livable standards. Also many were built out without foundations or using mud bricks. It was my property hunting all over Bulgaria about five years ago which awakened me to the adventure possibilities of the country. For further information on Bulgarian property why not contact me.

Travelling NOT Tourism

Today I we have launched our new trade mark for the site ' Travel NOT Tourism'TM

BSAC Tri Dive

My first attempt at diving was way back in 1999 while at university. I joined the university diving club with high hopes of aquatic underwater adventure.

One friday evening I arrived at a local school swimming pool with other members of the university diving club, only to be told that we could not have our first lesson due to the pool heating being broken.

Wind on eleven years to last week when I finally started to learn. Ok so far I have only done a BSAC Tri Dive at a local pool, but am now totally hooked. I am particularly interested in underwater photography.

Guest house in Rodopi Mountains near Plovdiv

I have just come accross a guest house located near Plovdiv at the foot of the Rodopi Mountains. Although I have not visited the http://www.thenorthplacebulgaria.com/index.html yet I do know the area to the south of the second city plovdiv very well.

For those of you interested in exploring the Rodopi mountains area which lie to the south of Plovdiv you could of course hire a car, though this is not really in the spirit of this site. After all it is a bulgarian adventure holiday site.

In love with Bulgaria since 2004

It occurred to me today that I have been obsessed with Bulgaria for six years now. It all started at my cousins wedding in London, when he happened to mention that a lot of his 'city friends' were investing there bonuses in the Bulgarian Black Sea coastal resorts, and also the Ski resorts.

This knowledge impressed me, after all if city bankers were investing, they are the people who are the experts :)

After about six months of slightly obsessional internet research I booked a ticket for 5th January 2005 from Gatwick to Sofia on Bulgaria Air.

Camping sites wanted

If you have land in a picturesque location that could potentially be used as a campsite then we would like to hear from you. We may be interested in renting land for our commercial camping activities. If interested give us an email.

My Running targets

I live about 1 mile from an old water filled quarry, which has been filled with water, creating a lake. There is a path all the way round it, which I have been told is 1 mile in length.

As part of my new Triathlon training scheme, last Sunday (27th September), I walked the mile down to the 'lake', and and jogged round it once. This was a total distance of three miles, once I had walked back home.

On Tuesday 29th I did the same, but increased my distance round the 'Lake' to 2 times round. This totaled 4 Miles.
